Biography
Mohammad H. Erfani is a Machine Learning Scientist at the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E), led by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His work focuses on the development of artificial intelligence (AI)–driven weather prediction models for modeling, analyzing, and predicting extreme weather events and their impacts on water supply and flooding.
Prior to joining CW3E, Mohammad was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) and the Center for Climate Systems Research (CCSR) at Columbia University, where his research focused on integrating machine learning into hydrologic and Earth system models. Mohammad holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a specialization in Water Resources Management, from the University of South Carolina.
